Indonesia's
RAIL TRACK

What is a Rail Track?

Two parallel rows of lengthy steel components make up a rail track, which enables trains to carry cargo and passengers in opposing directions. The cross pieces that hold the steel rails on a track are called sleepers, or ties. They are positioned uniformly apart. By distributing the weight of the train wheels, they keep the gauge between the rails constant. Sleepers, which are usually made of concrete or wood, are secured to the railway lines by ballast, which is made up of closely spaced tiny pieces of rock.  Rail maintenance frequently makes use of ballast tampers.
