Rail ballast aggregate, which is usually 30 to 50 mm in size, needs to be strong and durable to withstand the rough handling of a railway trackbed. Because of its inherent strength, granite is frequently chosen as the ballast material for Tarmac since it offers natural durability. It is important to emphasize that, despite the widespread usage of granite, many types of aggregate can satisfy Indonesia's trackbed ballast specifications, as shown in the accompanying image. The term "Batu Kricak" refers to split stone, which is a common type of ballast used for rail tracks in Indonesia. The stones range in size from 2 to 6 cm.
