KRL (Kereta Rel Listrik) refers to electric trains in Indonesia, commonly used for commuter rail services in and around Jakarta, the capital city. These electric trains are part of the urban transportation system and are operated by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).
The Jakarta and surrounding KRL routes are generally divided into 5 routes, namely the cross Bogor KRL route, the Cikarang KRL route, the Rangkasbitung KRL route, the Tangerang KRL route, and the Tanjung Priok KRL route. There is also a local KRL route to Merak.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is the state-owned company responsible for railway transportation in Indonesia. It operates both commuter trains, like the KRL mentioned earlier, and intercity trains that connect various cities across the archipelago. Intercity trains in Indonesia are an essential mode of transportation for long-distance travel between major cities and regions.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), more generally known as Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), is the primary company responsible for the operation of goods train services in Indonesia. Kereta Api Indonesia is the state-owned railway business in Indonesia, and it is responsible for the management and operation of passenger and goods train services across the nation. PT Kereta Api Indonesia is in charge of an extensive rail network in Indonesia that features freight services. This network makes it easier to move products and cargo between different areas, industrial centers, and ports in Indonesia.
